Endodontics is the dentistry branch dealing with treatment of the soft dental tissue and including endodontic therapy (commonly known as ”root canal therapy“).
Root canals and their associated pulp chamber are the physical hollows within a tooth that are naturally inhabited by nerve tissue, blood vessels and other cellular entities which together constitute the dental pulp.Due to the untimely caries, pulp falls ill and cause unpleasant symptoms such as pain, which is unfortunately the first reason for visiting the dentist. Such situations should be prevented and occur on time, while caries has not caused an infection of the pulp.
If possible, an appropriate medication preserves vitality of the tooth, and if the infection is advanced, the extirpation (”nerve extraction“) is advisable and root channel filled with the right material. The procedure is completely painless and is performed under the local anesthesia.
